And a late Merry Christmas to you all!
Dec. 26th, 2006 10:05 am'Ello! I'm back from my mother's house and eleven days without internet, YEEEE. ...Okay, so there is internet there, but it's HER internet, and... well, I never connected, 'kay? Partly because I'm the #1 Family Wrapping Elf. o_o;; it's getting to be a pain. I swear, there are more presents every year. I started wrapping on the 15th, I did at least an hour or two of wrapping EVERY DAY from the 15th to the 23rd, and there was still enough STUFF left over to have me wrapping practically all day on Christmas Eve, up until nearly 2am. Then of course there was the sparrowfart awakening to open lotsandlotsandlots of stocking presents, many of which I recognised intimately. Gweh. Not surprised I had a migraine Christmas morning, nope.
Despite that, this was the best Christmas ever! :D I have mucho cool stuff including an iPod Shuffle and a jellybean gumball machine from da boyfriend and a GOOD sewing machine from the illustrious parents, I once again got the accolade of "Auntie Melanie gives the best presents!" from the kids, and - and! - I won our all-adults three-hour fiercely fought game of Boggle by four points despite my sister's attempt to nobble me using vodka. XD She started feeding me alcohol when I was about fifteen points ahead, and for the first time in my life, I got drunk. Not even the assorted evil stuff Lubie tried to foist upon me at the farewell party in Kanazawa managed that, largely because I wasn't cooperating that time, I suppose. It was quite an interesting experience, though not one I really want to repeat in a hurry; I couldn't walk straight, I'm told I had a very disturbing grin, and I was fully aware that I was NOT safe to do anything more physically challenging than sitting comfortably in a chair proving that my vocabulary still worked. I have also discovered that I am one of those annoying people who does not get hangovers. Quite the opposite; I woke up bright-eyed and cheerful at 7.20am, WAY earlier than is usually possible without major outside assistance, without my normal "eh, I don't have to get up today, zzzz" reaction.
Wow. All those years my mother was frustrated by me not being able to wake up early, she should've been giving me a slug of vodka as a nightcap, hey?
