melredcap: Cute chibi sketch of me by Asuka (Default)

I'M GOING BALD.

*heh*

To be more accurate, I'm going to shave my head for charity. Since the last time I cut my hair (apart from trims for neatness' sake, and cutting my fringe) was 15 years ago, there's rather a lot of it and this is going to be one heck of a change. I'm taking this as an excuse to play with my hair before it's all gone, too; I've already bleached a wide streak into it (and discovered I like the effect, so I plan to repeat it after it grows back). Next week I turn redhead. The week after that, I'm going multicoloured and fluorescent. The week after *that*, out come the clippers.

The charity involved is the Leukaemia Foundation. It seemed like a good idea, since I've lost two family members to cancer, know three people with cancer (one of whom was given two months to live five years ago and is still going strong, go him!), know *of* several other people with cancer, and my mother and best friend have both had close calls. And while this is an Australian charity, and most people reading this probably aren't Aussies, I figure that it's a universal thing.

So... if anyone wants to sponsor me...

go to https://secure.worldsgreatestshave.com/wgs/pages/frm_sponsor.asp and enter Shaver No. 79129. You can read all about the event and charity at http://www.worldsgreatestshave.com .

There will be pictures later! ^_^

Wow, go you! That'll be quite the change. o.O A bunch of people at my office did that - they all grew their hair out for two years (they had long hair to start with), then this November they all got it chopped off short, and gave it to charity. It was a really shocking change. *laughs*

Are you going to dye it back to a normal colour before you hand it over? Or do they accept multi-coloured hair? *giggles*

I'm not giving the hair to charity - people are sponsoring money for me to chop it off. I would have liked to *also* give the hair to a charity that makes wigs for chemo patients, but alas, it's not strong enough. *sigh* Oh well. Means I can play, right?

Ahh, okay, I see. ^_^ So, are you going to change your chibi icon, then? You won't have the long hair anymore.

And will Mel in Warped Mirrors lose her hair somehow? *laughs at the possibilities and probably character reaction*

LOL, now that would be funny. I can just imagine how freaked they'll be. ^^

Yay you! Getting my dad to sponsor you! But he's cheap and only giving you $10. Good luck!

Yaaay! Thank your dad for me, please! ^_^ $10 is just fine and dandy, I'm not complaining!

Wow, that is a really great thing you are doing. I wish I could help sponsor you but being unemployed kinda makes that hard for me to do. >.< Sorry...

On a side note, isn't it fun changing your hair color in a short amount of time? *snickers* I used to do that... man every1 was like "Wasn't your hair Orange yesterday?" ^^

Go you!

I applaud you for being able to cut off that much at once. Seriously, I recently cut off a good two feet of hair (donated it to Locks for Love, a local charity) and man, you miss it after a while. This didn't stop me from experimenting with shorter and shorter hairstyles though! And speaking of short, you really need to upload some pictures of your new hairdo for posterity. I realize that it's a been a while since you shaved it, but still... Maybe you have some pictures lying around that you'd like to share?
