melredcap: Cute chibi sketch of me by Asuka (Default)

I plead exams and final papers and general busyness! >_< Our teachers here are a bit sadistic when it comes to scheduling these things - between last Thursday and this coming Friday, I have a total of four major exams, one medium-serious test, and two long papers due. Gaaaaah. Two of the exams and one of the papers are on the same day, too...

Still, things are going OK! I had my main Japanese exam on Thursday, and think I did pretty well... then I handed in my first paper the next day, for 'Psychology and the Ways of Thinking of the Japanese', and Hooernvelt-sensei (I'm not sure that's spelled right! He's Belgian by birth, but has lived in Japan for twenty years) made all sorts of interested growly noises while he was skim-reading the front page, so hopefully that's a good sign. Today we had a major vocabulary test in 'Reading Comprehension' class, which I was NOT looking forward to since I normally don't do enormously well in that sort of test, but I surprised myself by blitzing it. (I studied the right things and actually *remembered* them, yay me!) Tomorrow is the main exam for that class, and our teacher cheerfully told us "I don't think you need to worry about studying for this one," so that can't be too bad. (Plus, I get to finish off tomorrow by going to 'Experiences in Japanese Culture' class and firing my tea bowls and vase at Ohi-sensei's studio, which I'm really looking forward to!)

Friday, on the other hand, has the kanji exam and our oral Japanese exam. Yuuuuuck. And a seven-page paper for 'Language and Culture of Japan' is due. Double yuuuuck... finding a good balance between researching/writing that thing and studying for the exams hasn't been easy. Still, I get to finish the day off with a fun class (again) - the last Budo class - and I've already done the 'exam' for that, so I can just relax and have fun pretending to beat the stuffing out of Anemone! (Or having the stuffing beaten out of me *by* Anemone, depending on which of us is holding the wooden sword at the time...) After that, it's all over except for one more 'Experiences in Japanese Culture' class, the one where we get to drink tea out of our bowls and find out if they leak, and the (extremely short) final paper for that class is due on the 10th of March.

Phew.

I'd write more, but I'm hungry as heck and have to study more kanji. >_o Next update after my exams are over!

Lol, wow, I'm so glad that I'm not in college yet! Then again, you are so freakin' lucky. You're in Japan! *sigh* I envy you. Good luck on your exams, and have fun with the 'Experiences in Japanese Culture' class! Eek! Gotta go! Good Luck!

Don't overdo it there, Mel-san! Sorry I haven't been able to say "hi", college life in America bites sometimes. Remind me again why I decided to take Philosphy/Theology and an Ancient Cultures class? Well, we're awaiting more from that demented brain of yours (gotta love it though!)! Have fun girl, keep us informed.
