I have met my supervisor, and she is COOL!

I finally got to meet my Independent Research supervisor, Saiki-sensei, and it looks like we're going to have a lot of fun together this semester! ^_^ She's pretty young, about my age... or maybe younger (eek!)... and she likes my proposed translation plans and schedule, so that's one worry out of the way! I've had the occasional nasty moment of doubt recently, where I'd wonder if I'd have to change my project to satisfy my supervisor, but all is well (phew).
Okazawa-sensei took me over to her office and introduced us just after 4 today, and we ended up spending over two hours talking about what I wanted to do, how I planned to do it, and the bits of DebiDebi's first volume that I've already translated. Step 1 in the plan: write a letter to Miyoshi Yuuki-san, the author, and ask his permission to translate his manga and possibly post my translation on Christy and my website. Yes, there's already at least one unofficial translation up online, and it may seem a bit strange to be asking permission to do exactly what other people are doing already... but I want to do this right, show respect, be polite and so forth. Besides, you never know... if his manga company decide to publish it in English, they might remember me. *snicker* I do want to become a professional translator eventually, after all - and hey, it's being republished in French right now according to Asuka, so it's not completely out of the question!
So. I'm happy. ^_^ And there are swallows building nests around the entrance to the General Education Hall, where most of my classes are held, which I think is very cool.
