The drawbacks of virtue
Oct. 21st, 2011 05:11 pmPersonal virtue can be measured by the number of times you look at a boring household task and think, "I should really do that before Hubby gets home," compared to the number of times you actually do it.
I've been really, REALLY virtuous today. By the rules (as made up by the sort of people who hold serious opinions about the worth of housework and, say, abandoning a career to raise kids instead of using childcare), I should therefore be glowing with a faintly smug awareness of my immensely valuable contribution to the household and Making A Nice Home for my breadwinner to come home to (me being unemployed again, y'know, thanks to somebody's leave getting cancelled).
...About the only glowing awareness I have right now is the solid, unshakeable belief that I would kill for a house-elf. -_-;;
